Who killed POWs?

by RKNews last modified 2007-05-10 23:00

An Israeli film maker mixes up pictures and the story for dramatic effect only to find he has caused a diplomatic row of serious proportions. An Israeli author writes a book, only to find that he has stirred up the never truly dormant blood-libel. The haters and critics are always there just waiting for opportunity to use our own words for anti-Israel propaganda. However, the truth must always be available to those who care to know it.

With enviable multimedia power, IsraCast has used their archives of recordings and photos to present the truth.  Others who were there have added their voices, until even those who wrote the book, who made the movie, have had to retract and explain, if not redo. However, these authors are not heard for they have lost their credibility. Check your understanding now against direct evidence.

"POW EXPOSé"Posted Friday, Mar. 09, 2007 on IsraCast.com

"Nothing In Israeli TV Documentary Indicates That Israeli Troops Executed Egyptian POWs During Six Day War In 1967."

There is "Documented Evidence That Egyptian Troops Did Execute Israeli POWs During Yom Kippur War of 1973"

While this story has been has been a storm of headlines, articles, opinions and diplomatic tensions in Egypt and other Arab news sources, it was but a brief flurry in most of the Western media. The reason? It was a non-story.  While that didn't stop them from trumpeting the faked stories of El Cana in Lebanon or the Gaza Beach "massacre", the suspicion of propaganda may have prevailed in this case.

However, as can be expected, it continues to be  a cause celebré in Egypt.  Such is the culture of Arab history. Propaganda becomes truth and distorted truth becomes the mythology which motivates  the people.

Egyptians Killing POWs

Egyptian soldiers shooting Israeli prisoners,

In a word, they have become victim to their own propaganda, propaganda which when manipulated by evil men takes on a power of its own, becoming an all-consuming force and  insurmountable obstacle to development and cooperation with the world of nations.

IsraCast writes:

"The Shaked unit was commanded by Brig. Gen. Binyamin Ben Eliezer who is now a cabinet minister. Ben Eliezer had to cancel an official visit to Cairo after the airing of the documentary and the subsequent fireworks. At no point in the documentary did Shaked commanders refer to the execution of POWs as was inaccurately reported by some of the Israeli media. Despite this clarification by Israel's Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, the affair has been exploited by anti- Israeli elements in Egypt to whip-up a campaign of vilification against the Jewish state.

"It is the practice and policy of the Israel Defense Forces to respect the rights of POWs. In time of war, Israel shows captured POWs each one saying his  name on television to show they are alive and being fairly treated. In contrast, Arab states do not even release the names of Israeli POWs so their anguished families can know they are alive. "
